A Lawrence County woman was killed Wednesday when her car and a pickup truck crashed at an intersection in Union, police said.
Bernice Mahood, 83, of Edinburg, had been driving north on Old Youngstown Road at 1:11 p.m. when she paused at a stop sign before pulling into the intersection at Route 422, police Chief Joseph Lombardo said.
Witnesses told police Ms. Mahood did not check for other traffic. Her car was struck broadside by a westbound pickup truck driven by Mary Jane Patton, 67, of McDonald.
Ms. Mahood was pronounced dead at the scene, Chief Lombardo said. Her death has been ruled an accident.
Ms. Patton was treated at a hospital for minor injuries, police said.
