Pittsburgh homicide detectives yesterday were investigating an early-morning shooting in Banksville that left one man dead and another wounded.

Allen Austin, 37, of Brownsville, Fayette County, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest, according the to the Allegheny County medical examiner's office. Police haven't identified the other victim.

The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. near the Comfort Inn on Banksville Road.

Mr. Austin has a lengthy criminal history and has served time in prison on assault and identity theft convictions. He is originally from the Hill District.
