Fun filled night at the Aviary
Saturday, August 16, 2008

For those who haven't flown the coop to a sandy beach or a mountain retreat somewhere, the National Aviary's annual Night in the Tropics was just the ticket. The Aug. 9 benefit helps put the wind beneath the Aviary's wings and gives bird lovers and party goers a chance to mingle and munch among their feathered friends. A V.I.P. reception started things off, while the sounds of a steel drum welcomed guests inside for a look at the lorikeets exhibit. For those under the tent or strolling the rose garden, the temperatures were thankfully less tropic and more temperate. Lots of food and lively libations donated by local eateries including Big Burrito, McCormick & Schmick's, Dave & Buster's and so many more kept guests energized for dancing to the Freedom Band. Jane and Michael Dixon chaired the festivities with Huntington Bank as the presenting sponsor.
