THINK SMALL

Can someone please ask Don Hammonds to undergo a reality check?

Write to us: To submit a letter or an essay for consideration for The Private Sector, please send it via e-mail to business@post-gazette.com or via regular mail to Post-Gazette Business Section, Private Sector, 34 Blvd. of the Allies, Pittsburgh 15222. Please include your telephone number, municipality and return address for verification.

We presently find ourselves in an era of gas around $4 a gallon and a major economic downturn threatening hundreds of thousands of families with the possible loss of their homes.

So in this economic climate, care to hazard a guess which cars Mr. Hammonds would be reviewing for consumers? The Toyota Prius? The Honda Fit? Don't be foolish.

Those cars are obviously too mundane for Mr. Hammonds' tastes, I guess.

Believe it or not, to add insult to injury, Mr. Hammonds recently reviewed the 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser and the 2009 Chevrolet Camaro, the first a gas guzzling luxury SUV, the latter a modern remake of a 1960s gas guzzling muscle car!

I wonder if I am the only one thinking this guy has lost touch with reality.

MARK STEINER,
Canonsburg
