Doctors from around the world crowd into Dr. Freddie Fu's operating room at UPMC South Side Hospital while the famous surgeon repairs the wrecked knee of a 21-year-old soccer player from Slippery Rock University. On this day, Dr. Fu's audience included surgeons from China, Japan, Brazil, South Korea, the Netherlands, Poland, Germany and Switzerland. The ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) reconstruction surgery is performed arthroscopically, with a tiny camera and surgical instruments inserted through incisions around the knee.
